Declare the Word of the Lord

I was mowing the grass on Saturday lost in the world of my own thoughts. You know what that is like when you are doing something that does not require your constant attention, your mind can think about so many other things. Really my mind was quite blank or at least wandering when I heard these words, “Put your ear to the ground and declare the Word of the Lord.”

I knew immediately that the Lord was speaking to me about positioning myself to hear from Him of things that were coming in the near future. The placing of one’s ear to the ground was a way for hunters, trackers or those being hunted to hear if a stampede was coming or a group of horses, possibly carrying men who would do them harm. It was used in battle to know the positioning of the enemy and to be prepared long before they actually saw the enemy coming.

Right now is a very critical time for each of us to be listening to what the Spirit is saying. Remember faith comes by hearing, not seeing. I implore you to listen to the Holy Spirit, but do not become discouraged by what you see. The Prophet Amos spoke these words to the nation of Israel that was so self consumed that they could not recognize their own great need; Surely the Lord GOD does nothing, Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets. Amos 3:7

We should not be unaware of what is coming unless we become so distracted by the busyness of life that we miss the warning signs. The ministry that the Lord has placed on my life is one of “awakening.” It is time to wake up and step into your destiny. All those who have been reconciled to their Heavenly Father are called to be intercessors on behalf of the King. You may be an anointed gifted accountant or Senator or medical assistant, but you have a responsibility to intercede for those in your sphere of influence. Our personal purpose never exceeds His Kingdom purposes.

Now is the time to hear and see what God is saying and then declare the Word of the Lord in spite of what is taking place on the earth. This is not the work of the faint of heart. Step into your position as the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus and ALL the authority that has been granted unto those who believe!

The Prophet Habakkuk gave the solution to those who would hear during a time when Israel refused to hear from God. Listen to the word of God from the Message translation.

1What’s God going to say to my questions? I’m braced for the worst. I’ll climb to the lookout tower and scan the horizon. I’ll wait to see what God says, how he’ll answer my complaint. 2And then GOD answered: “Write this. Write what you see. Write it out in big block letters so that it can be read on the run. 3This vision-message is a witness pointing to what’s coming. It aches for the coming—it can hardly wait! And it doesn’t lie. If it seems slow in coming, wait. It’s on its way. It will come right on time.

Will you climb to the lookout tower of God? Will you have eyes to see and ears to hear? Now is the time to see what God will say and write it down. Then what?

• Declare it into the atmosphere where you live. What is spoken in secret will be rewarded openly (Mt. 6:6). You have the authority to change the atmosphere around you.

• Share it with those who will listen. You must discern who to share the secrets of the Lord with. This is very important. Not everyone will hear. Some will not wake up, but to those who do, will you have the Word of the Lord to share with them? It is on its way. Get ready!

• Write it down so that you will not forget and others can read it. It is a witness to what is coming.

A word of caution! A word spoken from a poor example is rarely heard. Make sure you are living what you are speaking! Character counts!!!! Remember you were born for such a time as this! Your destiny awaits you. Step into it now!

Exposing the Heart

 “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.

Jeremiah 17:9,10

I hear the Holy Spirit saying “This is a test!” The United States is teetering on the brink of disaster, our economy is collapsing, marriage is being re-written, morality is at an all time low, we face a Presidential election that may well define our nation for years to come and many fail to even perceive of their purpose and where we are on God’s timeline. I sense this morning that all of this is a test to reveal our hearts and to prepare us for what is ahead.

There is hardly a day that goes by in which someone’s inner life is exposed to the public and as always man is found wanting. The disturbing part is that there are as many failures in so called “Christians” as there are in unbelievers. Many continue to preach a gospel that fails to penetrate the surface of our circumstances resulting in a message that treats symptoms, but rarely identifies the disease. The result is people who feel better, but are not healed or transformed.

God is not messing around. He goes to the heart of the matter. The Lord follows the same guidelines that He gave to us to govern the church (Matt. 18:15-20). The Holy Spirit first convicts us of our sin. If we confess our sin He is faithful to forgive us, but we must allow our lives to be changed by submitting to the Word of God. If we do not repent, the Holy Spirit sends a personal representative of the King of kings. That would be a friend, authority in the body or even a stranger with a prophetic word. If we don’t repent at the warning of a friend the Lord then allows our sin to be exposed before everyone.

God does not hide our sin to spare us of embarrassment. He is much more concerned with our divine nature being nurtured and our personal character being developed than He is with our reputation and comfort. He has invested His entire life into you. You were created by and for Him for the purpose of bringing heaven to earth as a representative of the King. All of creation is actually waiting for you and me to be who we really are! But the heart is so deceptive and cunning. Somehow we deceive ourselves into believing that God doesn’t see or know what is going on in our lives. In His infinite mercy the Holy Spirit waits on the fruit coming to maturity. It may take years, but nothing can stop bad seed from reproducing accept repentance, humility and obedience.

Do not fear what you see happening around you. It is only a test! Let the test reveal your heart by humbly submitting to the work of the Holy Spirit. What will be revealed will be the nature of our Father and the fruit of who we really are in Him! You will find that you have been created for such a time as this! A chip off the Old Block! A son of God! A destiny that makes a difference!
