“You’re familiar with the old written law, ‘Love your friend,’ and its unwritten companion, ‘Hate your enemy.’ 4I’m challenging that. I’m telling you to love your enemies. Let them bring out the best in you, not the worst. When someone gives you a hard time, respond with the energies of prayer, 5for then you are working out of your true selves, your God-created selves. Matthew 5:43-45 The Message translation
“Respond with the energies of prayer, for then you are working out of your true selves, your God-created selves.” This is who you truly are and is all made possible through Jesus Christ. Satan our enemy wants to pull you from your true self through strategies of distraction, fear, anger and a host of other feelings that will cause you to react and not respond!
Let me give you some key ways to pray that will keep you focused:
1. Come into agreement with God’s Word! Let your words and God’s Word be one!
2. Hear what the Father is saying and do not be afraid to speak it.
3. Understand that your prayers are weapons of warfare that pull down strongholds. You must visualize that you are that Word you are praying!
4. Do not pray witchcraft manipulative prayers. Don’t presume that you know what is best!
5. Pray for those who are in authority over you. This does not mean you have to bless them. You have the power to bind and to loose on earth as it is in heaven. Use the authority that you have been given. Love the sinner, hate the sin!
Do not let current circumstances deter you from being your God created self. It is from this position that you will respond and not react, thus fulfilling your purpose and destiny. Remember we are all called to pray for our nation, leaders, and one another! Stay Focused!
