The Bible is very clear that we should give honor to whom honor is due. That is in the realm of humanity and it is extremely important. I have seen it change the atmosphere in Senator's offices in Washington, DC. It can change a board meeting that has grown tense or even a marriage that is struggling. Honoring one another simply works. It builds the other person up and leaves them feeling appreciated. Try it and see for yourself.
That is how it works with man, but God is totally different. He often honors those who in the eyes of man would be considered a failure. Take for instance Joseph in the Old Testament. His life goes from bad to worse. He gets thrown into prison for being falsely accused of coming on to his master's wife. Forgotten by everyone but God, he gets promoted and honored by Pharaoh to lead the nation of Egypt. Talk about shifting a life. What about Moses? Forgotten on the backside of the desert, a runaway murderer is chosen by God to lead the nation of Israel. He didn't even believe in himself, but God did!
I think you get the point. This happens to person after person in the Bible and in real life. I am speaking from experience. The last three years of life have been very difficult. So difficult you begin to wonder about some of the things the Lord has promised. Forgotten by many who were friendly when all was well, but God never forgets. So he sends two men from across our nation to come and honor me with a Doctorate of Humanities. Do you know how unworthy I felt? I mean I simply don't deserve this honor. What are you doing?
They saw what I believe God saw and I have to accept that. As I sat there that night being honored, God began to share with me story after story of people who were nobodies to man, but very important somebodies to God. Man honors those who deserve honor. God honors those whom He chooses to honor. It has nothing to do with what you deserve! Thank God! What it does is shift your life! The power behind being honored by God will shift your life like you would never dream of.
For me, the honor that two men bestowed upon me has shifted my life like I could never have asked or thought of. Let me encourage you today. Honor from men is praise worthy, but nothing compares to being honored by God because you know you simply don't deserve it. That is how God works!
May the honor of God bestowed upon your life as you shift into your destiny!
