Let me encourage you with a word that I have been blessed by this past week.
Then Jesus said to them, “Children, have you any food?” They answered Him, “No.” John 21:4 Let me give you some background to this scripture. Jesus has been crucified, appeared to the disciples in John 20, but then vanished. They are confused, disappointed and have really no understanding of what to do next. When things do not go right in our lives we feel this way. "God where are you and why are you not showing me what to do next?" Peter decides to go fishing and the others agree to go with him. When you don't know what to do, you will always fall back on what you use to do. That is what they did previously to meeting Jesus.
They fish all night and catch nothing! The next morning Jesus is on the shore and asks them a very interesting question? "Do you have any food?" He doesn't ask them if they have any fish, but do you have any food. As you read on in scripture Jesus had fish that He was cooking so He had no need for fish. He wasn't interested at all with physical food.
Go to John 4:32. This is the story of the woman at the well. His disciples return from the market and urge Him to eat. What is His reply? “I have food to eat of which you do not know.” Therefore the disciples said to one another, “Has anyone brought Him anything to eat?” Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work." Here lies the answer to the question that He asks the disciples in John 21:4.
Why is this important? Jesus is trying to teach His disciples and each of us how to be the solution to problems around us even when times are difficult. When your food is the will of the Father and to finish that work, nothing from around you can stop you. You are living from within! Some would call this walking in the Spirit, but I am convinced it is more! You are feasting on the will of the Father and you will be able to do what is necessary to solve the problems around you because that is what you were created to do and what you live off of.
My friends, I have to say that I feed off of you, because it is God's will that I be with you and teach you. That is the work that God has given to me. It is my food! Things can be difficult in the world, but I know what my purpose and destiny are in Christ! My identity is not in how much money I make or a title I hold. My identity is in Jesus Christ and the will of the Father! Why do you think that Jesus told His disciples in John 6 that they must eat His body and drink His blood? This is a spiritual principle that will enable you to stand strong and courageously no matter what comes against you!
It is written in the book of Acts 17:28 "In Him we live and move and have our being,…" That word "being" means my very existence! You do not exist to eat physical food, though we need physical food to live. You exist to do the will of your Father. This sustains me and it will sustain you also. There is an energy that is released when you are doing what you were created to do! There is so much more that I have to share with you. My question to you is, "Do you have any food?" Look inside of you and discover your purpose for living. Discover the Kingdom of God in you! The will of the Father for your life is in you! BE WHAT YOU WERE CREATED TO BE! Your destiny is waiting!
