All I have to say is "Penn State" and my mind immediately goes to destinies being aborted. At this moment there is little positive coming out of this horrific child abuse incident that seems to have involved more people than we want to believe. Though I firmly believe in the restoring power of Jesus Christ here is a short list of destinies that have been aborted or for sure misdirected.
1. Each child victim will have scars that will last a lifetime. The fear of betrayal by authority figures and the feeling of helplessness will persist for years to come without proper counsel. Pray for the healing of their souls.
2. Jerry Sandusky the perpetrator of these heinous perversions was a man held in high regard as a coach and leader of the foundation that he had created to help the very children he destroyed.
3. Joe Paterno with all his football records, high praises from his peers and players has seen it all go down the drain. More of his legacy has been destroyed than his destiny only because of his age.
4. Every coach on the Penn State staff has been tainted for life and will forever have an asterisk by their name with a footnote "Penn State child abuse case."
5. The President and other administrators of Penn State will forever have the neglect tag associated with their name.
There will be a multitude of sleepless nights for everyone associated with this sordid affair. We were created to have dreams not nightmares. I hope that you will join me in praying for every person involved, that each might experience the dream restoring touch of God. Jesus is the master at restoring the destiny of a person.
